A computerized tomography (CT) scan gives your doctor a detailed 3-D view of your heart and the surrounding blood vessels. It enables the cardiologist to look at details of the heart in “slices,” so the heart’s structure is easier to study. Similarly, a coronary CT angiogram provides images of the blood vessels that supply your heart, so your cardiologist can determine if coronary arteries are becoming blocked.
These tests are performed in a specialized room that houses the CT scanner.
